Life Outside of STACK is our feature series that introduces you to some of the faces behind the brand. Today we are featuring Megan Britton, Campaign Coordinator.
Tell us your position, how long you’ve been at STACK, and briefly describe a typical day at work for you.
I am STACK’s Campaign Coordinator and have been with the company for a little over 5 years. It’s my job to organize and execute email campaigns to support our inbound sales team, CS team, and the company as a whole. There is no typical day for me, every day looks a little bit different and that is one of the things I love so much about my job!
What do you love about your job that would surprise most people?
Watching campaigns come together is so cool. Seeing the things our creative team puts together to bring the words of our content team to life for the audience we have selected. The finished product is always way cooler than I dreamed.
What is your team like at STACK?
Oh my gosh, the marketing team at STACK is amazing. Our team is made up of some of the hardest working, creative thinking, supportive, fun, and reliable people I have ever met. I could cry talking about them. Every member of our team is so special to me.
What is the best piece of career advice you ever received?
I saw a quote once that said, “If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, you don’t ask what seat, you just get on.” If you have the opportunity to be a part of something great, what part doesn’t matter. Just be thankful to be a part.
What’s your process for turning a bad day into a good one?
We have a few tried and true tricks in this house. I grew up being told if you are in a bad mood or sad, add water or sunshine. I still use this trick today. A hot shower or a walk in the fresh air can boost your mood pretty quickly. We are also a dancing house, when things aren’t going our way it’s not abnormal for us to turn on some jams and just dance it out.
We know you’re great – hey, that’s why you work at STACK! Tell us about the great things (in detail) you do outside of work. Hobbies, interests, secret lives...
Once upon a time, I was a surfing, mountain climbing, country traveling adventurer. These days, outside of work my life is pretty low-key. I am a single mom of four, so my days are spent making sure theirs are running smoothly. I love watching my kids do what they love – is that a hobby? Whether I’m on the sidelines of my son’s basketball games, watching my girls dance, or listening to my other son play in the band, I really enjoy watching them grow and learn new things! I love to hike. We try to go a couple times a month at least. Back during quarantine, I got into house plants. I top out somewhere around 50 plants. Obsession or hobby? Same thing. I recently took up crocheting but let's just say no one should expect a handmade gift for Christmas.
What’s your favorite local spot and why (restaurant, bar, music venue, whatever you want to share about your hood!)?
I live in the middle of nowhere, seriously. A little one-stoplight town. We are best known for our pizza/ice cream/gas station/grocery store, Terry’s. It’s a little mom-and-pop shop run by one of the sweetest families. Their pizza is always the perfect sauce-to-cheese ratio, they make insane ice cream concoctions called Crazy Shakes, and they fill their store with tons of goodies from local bakers.
What song have you completely memorized? Will you sing it for us? What about playing it on an instrument? How about a little dance instead?
Pretty much any boy band song from the late 90s/early 2000s and no, the second-hand embarrassment would be too much for you all to bear.
What makes you truly happy?
Have you heard of the concept of glimmers? It’s about finding small moments through your days that make you smile. My life is full of those. The smell of coffee in the morning, the sound of the wind chimes on the porch while the sun comes through the tree leaves, my cat stretching, my kids actually getting along for three seconds... all little glimmers that truly fill my soul.
If your life was a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack?
My soundtrack would be all over the place. I’m a mom, so of course Party Up by DMX haha. Thank you by Life.Church Worship, Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain by The Judds, Doin’ My Best by Kelsea Ballerini, Call Your Sister by Taylor Edwards, Keep Your Head Up by Ben Howard, and Dancing On the Grave by Christ For The Nations.
What is the most courageous thing you've ever done?
I’m not sure courageous is the right word for it, but at 18 I left Florida on my own to start a life in Ohio. Some days I regret leaving, those days are usually in the winter. I am thankful for all the people I’ve met and the life I’ve built here.
What causes are you passionate about?
There really isn’t one specific cause that has my heart. I live by the John Wesley quote “Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can.”
